Handcrafted Wooden Zukiri-Natsume with *Sumiyoshi Maki-e

Sumiyoshi Maki-e depicts the landscape of Sumiyoshi Taisha in Osaka, including elements such as pine trees, arched bridge, shrine buildings, and the Sumiyoshi gate.

This is by Takaya Nakamura (中村孝也).

Takaya Nakamura is a maki-e artist who has had many domestic art prize careers since 1979. It also mentions a notable event in 1988 when Mr. Eduard Shevardnadze, the former President of Georgia, visited Japan. Takaya's work, "Hira-natsume grape maki-e," was selected by Urasenke as a commemorative item for Mr. and Mrs. Shevardnadze.
