ICOM IC-R71E Receiver in fair condition for parts or repair. S/N 08694.  Needs PLL board.
This receiver was not well treated with some damage to one side of the back panel and scratches and abrasions as shown in the pictures.  When i purchased it, it was advertised as functional but with a minor problem.  What I found was that the PLL board was not adjustable and it was obvious the trimmer capacitors had been replaced.  I have confirmed by using a PLL board from another receiver that it does appear to work properly.  I have replaced  the transistors/FETS at the input to the tuning section (Q5,Q6,Q7) and checked other components, but without success in repairing the board.  My suspicion is that something is wrong under the soldered-on covers and I really don't want to mess with it any further.  You can see from the first three pictures that both the VFO and memory functions work.  The keyboard works, but is touchy (gives multiple numbers).  I did not take the time to check everything with the good PLL borard.
