Selling my extremely rare Marilyn Monroe original photograph taken by George Barris in 1962 at Santa Monica Beach in California. Here she is in a candid shot looking absolutely stunning, so happy, so gorgeous in one of her rare Green towel shots and this one is very hard to find, it’s another one I purchased from Kim Goodwin and have never seen it offered ever again and that’s now going on two decades of searching for original Marilyn Monroe photos because I still love to look even though I cannot afford to buy anymore. George Barris was such an extraordinary photographer. He captured this incredible shot of Marilyn showcasing her beautiful hourglass figure actually through the towel taking advantage of the direction that the wind was blowing. Marilyn’s facial expression is so cute here, one can tell she was genuinely happy. I believe she felt a genuine love by both Andre and George and I believe they genuinely loved and cared for her. These two photographers as well as Sam Shaw, Bernard of Hollywood and Milton Greene captured some of the most spectacular and candid, photos of her where one can see the pure joy and happiness Marilyn felt. (Marilyn’s Korean USO tour photographs capture that same emotion she definitely seemed to feel of complete happiness and she was said that was one of her happiest moments.) In excellent condition. Size 5 x 7 inch. Gelatin silver or chromogenic. Produced, stamped and signed by George Barris and this is a live signature meaning George Barris actually touched and signed the photo itself. This signature is another one of the most awesome examples of his signature that I have seen, very bold and beautiful. All of Kim Goodwin’s signed photos have excellent examples of Barris’ signature. When I saw how spectacular Kim’s photos of Marilyn were I invested all that I had to buy as many as I could both before and after his passing, May He Rest In Peace, he was an awesome person, he had a good soul and was a man of many talents, please read below for more information about the great Marilyn Monroe photographic preservationist Kim Goodwin. Note: In the beginning of my collecting it was very difficult for me to discern if a signature was an actual live signature or not I would take all my photos to a photographic expert (now I can tell on my own) but the way one can tell is under high powered magnification and light one will see that on only negative signed photos the signature, at a certain angle, underneath the light, will completely disappear underneath the photographic gloss and that will never happen on an actual live signed photo such as this one and my other ones because the signature is always on top of the photo and that’s how you can tell if it’s, the most desirable, live, signed photograph or the all too common negative signed photograph which you will never find from me I don’t have many signed ones but I made certain that all of mine were hand signed live signatures by George Barris (I have approximately 5 left all different poses, all extremely rare and only one or two color ones left, please see my other listings for more rare ones listed now.) Rare shot; one of the “last photos” ever to be taken of the young starlet. It was very difficult for me to obtain this particular image but the great Kim Goodwin had it. Stamped on back by Kim Goodwin. Stamped on back by George Barris with one of Barris’ rare Red stamps.

This is from, if not the best, then one of the very best Marilyn Monroe photo preservationists of all time, Kim Goodwin. Kim was a man of many talents, he loved and had a deep appreciation for Marilyn, he actually worked for photographer, George Barris, and chose to be paid in photographs and negatives. He was extremely talented, among many talents, he was a photographic preservationist, there are many books that credit him for the use of his photos. He was a highly skilled Marilyn doll designer, some would argue perhaps the best because his dolls looked so life like and captured Marilyn’s beauty in a way no other designer could and they had a gracefulness to them that was unparalleled, and as mentioned above contributed to many books on her. He was also a sought after, highly regarded, expert stylist/artist to the stars.

Taken shortly before Marilyn’s passing in June of 1962. Barris went shopping for Marilyn before this shooting and is quoted in his book as saying “On my shopping spree for Marilyn, I went to two of her favorite stores, Jax on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, and Saks Fifth Avenue. At Jax I bought her some beautiful slacks and decorative Emilio Pucci sport shirts. When Marilyn & Barris got to Tim’s house, Barris introduced him and his maid, Louise, to Marilyn. Louise became so nervous when Marilyn shook her hand that she fluttered and stuttered, saying, “Is that really you? No one will believe me when I say I met and shook hands with Marilyn Monroe. I can hardly believe it myself. Is that really you?” Marilyn, laughing, replied, “Sometimes I can hardly believe it, too.”
