Marilyn hits a new record getting chosen for 2023 LIFE magazine cover (a cover is chosen 4 times annually) she’s on the cover now in newsstands and available at grocery stores, shown in last photos, magazine not included for reference only.

“Getting (Monroe) items is becoming more and more difficult," said Darren Julien…The supply's less and less, but demand's more and more because you have people in Asia and Russia and all over the world that are collecting pop culture - especially Marilyn Monroe."

-Darren Julien of Julien's Auctions

Selling my extremely rare original 1953 Marilyn Monroe photograph. This is Marilyn in her gorgeous blue bathing suit with lucite heels photograph session by photographer Bert Reisfeld. This very pose was chosen for the cover of LIFE magazine. I included a picture of the magazine for reference as well as other advertising this pose was used for in the last photos but the magazine and others are not included. Here Marilyn is in a gorgeous close up shot looking absolutely stunning. Very rare. I have never seen another original in all my years of searching for Marilyn Monroe photos. In excellent condition. Produced from the original negative or transparency. My best guess is this was produced in the 70’s to early 80’s. Reasonable offers accepted.

“There's little question that LIFE recognized Marilyn's singular, profound appeal from early on in her career, but she only graced LIFE's cover six times while she was alive. (She appeared on several more covers after her death in August 1962, including later editions after the magazine ceased publishing as a weekly.) Six times is fewer than Dwight Eisenhower, for example, while Liz Taylor holds the record with fourteen appearances on the cover of the premier photographic magazine of the age.

And yet . .. when one considers that Marilyn's run of six covers occurred during a span of a mere 10 years, and that had she lived she might well have challenged Taylor's supremacy, her close connection to the magazine and, by extension, her centrality to the American conversation around fame, celebrity, sex and media in the 20th century is cast in a much clearer, brighter light.

Marilyn helped define what LIFE looked and felt like…”
