Vintage 800 Silver Indian Islamic Mamluk Pierced Pan-dan Betel Trinket Box


The use of pandan or betel boxes in India were for holding 'pan' (betel nut) combined usually with 'chunam' (lime paste) and wrapped up with betel leaves. The word 'pandan' derives from the Hindi word 'pan' and the Persian 'dan'.
