First edition of 1580 of this monumental work about the history of IKtaly written by Carlo Sigonio (Modena 1524- Ponte Basso (Modena) 1584) historian and letterate teacher of humanity in the University of Bologna.

The work is made up of two tomes, each one with its own title page bound in the same volume and it is complete.

The first tome is the edition of 1580. The letter of typographer has been bound in the end of the first tome, the index at the end of the volume. 

The second tome is the sacrce venetian edition of 1591, the publisher Franciscum Senensem.

The author dedicated the last years of his life to the work that describes the history of Italy from 565 to 1286.

In good conditions.

Half leather cover of 19th century in good general conditions lightly worn in the extremities. Binding in fair conditions with light cracks. Inside pages are in good conditions with occasional foxing. Worming in the edges of the first 12 pages. Restauration in the verso of the title page and input page a2. In folio. Dim. 31,5x22x7,5 cm. Pp. 666+(2)+(8)+234+(24)+(65). Weight Kg. 2,500.

Prima edizione del 1580 di questa monumentale opera sulla storia d'Italia scritta da Carlo Sigonio (Modena 1524- Ponte Basso (Modena) 1584) storico e letterato insegnante di Umanità presso l'Università di Bologna.

L'opera è composta da due parti legate insieme, ognuna con proprio frontespizio, ed è completa.

Il primo tomo è l'edizione del 1580. La lettera del tipografo all'editore è stata legata alla fine del primo tomo mentre l'indice dello stesso alla fine del volume. 

Il secondo tomo è la rara edizione veneziana del 1591, lo stampatore Franciscum Senensem.

L'autore dedicò gli ultimi anni della sua vita alla stesura dell'opera che tratta meticolosamente il periodo che va dall'anno 565 al 1286.

Vignetta xilografia in ogni frontespizio. Al tomo primo: Figura femminile loricata: Bologna che tiene col braccio sinistro la cornucopia e con il destro lo stendardo con la scritta Libertas. Motto: Bononia docet.

In buone condizioni.

Copertina in mezza pelle ottocentesca con titolo in oro al dorso in buone condizioni generali con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura in discrete condizioni con lievi rotture. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con rare fioriture. Segni di tarlo marginali alle prime 12 carte. Restauro al verso del frontespizio e alla carta A2. In folio. Dim. 31,5x22x7,5 cm. Pp. 666+(2)+(8)+234+(24)+(65). Peso Kg. 2,500.
