First edition of 1580 of this monumental work about the history of IKtaly written by Carlo Sigonio (Modena 1524- Ponte Basso (Modena) 1584) historian and letterate teacher of humanity in the University of Bologna.
The work is made up of two tomes, each one with its own title page bound in the same volume and it is complete.
The first tome is the edition of 1580. The letter of typographer has been bound in the end of the first tome, the index at the end of the volume.
The second tome is the sacrce venetian edition of 1591, the publisher Franciscum Senensem.
The author dedicated the last years of his life to the work that describes the history of Italy from 565 to 1286.
In good conditions.
Half leather cover of 19th century in good general conditions lightly worn in the extremities. Binding in fair conditions with light cracks. Inside pages are in good conditions with occasional foxing. Worming in the edges of the first 12 pages. Restauration in the verso of the title page and input page a2. In folio. Dim. 31,5x22x7,5 cm.
