Up for sale is just about one of the rarest Japanese bayonets out there. During the end of the war the Japanese were desperately short of raw materials, especially steel. They resorted to using any material they could to make ends meet, even bamboo. We can see that this “last ditch” bayonet is an early one with the quillion intact, as well as a beautifully blued blade. The scabbard is made of bamboo with a metal tip. It’s very skillfully made, but one can really see the desperation of Japanese forces when holding this bayonet. This is an extremely rare bayonet, these don’t often leave collections and when they do they’re sold with a phone call... Japanese militaria in general is beginning to go up in price, now is your opportunity to grab an amazing piece of Japanese WW2 history!
