Memorial dedicated to all Marines who have died in the defense of the nation.

Four original & historic images taken when the Iwo Jima Memorial was first dedicated by President Eisenhower. Each red border slide is also stamp-dated Nov 10, 1954.

On this day in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower dedicated the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va., in a ceremony that took place on the 179th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps' founding. Vice President Richard M. Nixon was also in attendance. The United States Marine Band is seen in the last image.
