You are bidding on a extremely rare material which was most likely used to create the "Aspirator" grille on the classic Star Trek TOS phasers. I believe this is what Wah Ming Chang used.

The source of the material has remained elusive for decades, It's unknown exactly where Wah Chang found the material.  Fans and hobbyists have searched in vain for years and even have come very close, but ultimately have resorted to using pressed aluminum sheets to produce a close facsimile to the original mylar material.

I have found an extremely limited amount of the mylar material which exhibits the same diamond shape with the appropriate spacing and inverted pyramid profile, the back of the material is a pressed fiber material (see photos) which shows the same brownish color seen in the various archival and auction photos of the Star Trek Phaser 2's and Phaser 1's (see photos). The last four photos are of the original Star Trek Phaser props used in the TV series. The black and white photo is from the Making of Star Trek book 1968.

The material is highly reflective and flexible and displays a rainbow just like the originals crispys depending on the camera/light source angle, see photos. The "Extra" means these are the sharper diamond pattern lines like the originals, unlike other patterns out there that, the lines are not rounded more.

Here is your opportunity to upgrade your phasers like the one I have done which is A John Long kit.

John Long and, other experts have agreed with me that some of the original props they have seen in person has this exact material on it. And John has purchased over twenty five of these from me through the years for his own.

In fact John has just sent me one of his latest photo's  of his many phasers, he has worked on using my material and, has given me permission to use it here. Its the last photo
