( 40 Seeds )

Botanical nomenclature: Jacaranda mimosifolia
Common name: Jacaranda mimoso
Family: Bignoniaceae

Medium sized tree, which reaches about 15 meters. With a thin, rounded to irregular crown, delicate foliage, it is a deciduous to semi-deciduous tree. Its stem, 30 to 40 cm in diameter, is slightly twisted, with a light and smooth bark when young, which gradually becomes rough and dark with age. Its leaves, which measure 40 cm in length, are opposite and bipinated, composed of 25 to 30 pairs of small, delicate oval leaflets, light grayish-green in color, and concentrated at the ends of the branches. In winter, the mimoso jacaranda loses its leaves, which give way to flowers in spring. Its flowers are durable, fragrant and large, blue or purplish in color, trumpet-shaped and arranged in panicle-like inflorescences. Flowering extends throughout spring and early summer. The fruits appear in autumn, are woody, dehiscent and contain numerous small seeds. The fruit is a woody capsule, very hard, oval, flat, with numerous seeds.
