Quartz Crystals and Fluorite Cluster Display Specimen - Cambokeels Mine, Weardale

A super small display specimen of Quartz crystals and Fluorite from the classic Cambokeels Mine in Weardale. The specimen has a couple of well formed pale purple to clear Fluorite crystals up to 2mm on the abundant well formed clear Quartz crystals.

The intergrown Fluorite crystals are well formed although there are some minor flaws on some edges. They have superb clarity and are pale purple in natural light. As is typical of most Weardale Fluorites, there is a difference in colour between natural and artificial light due to its property of fluorescing under UV light and the pictures show the crystal under both types of light for comparison (the last 9 photos are in artificial light).

The Fluorite crystals measure up to 3mm on the longest edge. The cluster as a whole measures 5 x 3.5 x 2.5cm and weighs 21g. (All weights and measures are approximate).

This piece comes from a from a lifelong collector of minerals who mainly self-collected from all over the world and the UK, and he collected this piece in 03/91.
