This is a lovely hand hammered tinned copper Turkish bath box.  It is hinged, and closes with a simple latch.  There is a copper handle on the domed lid.  There are about twenty holes in the bottom for drainage of a wet bar of soap and wash cloth.

The box measures 6" x 3 1/4" and stands 3 3/4" tall, and has a vertical ribbed design around the sides, and a curved pattern on the lid.  The plain curved handle is copper. 

I have left the partial handwritten sticker on the bottom.  It may have been antique shop inventory.  This piece is kind of a mystery to me since I had not seen one like it before.  It is sturdy, not the type of "antiqued" metal used in reproductions.  The hinge, handle and latch all work well.  This handmade piece shows some age and is full of charm.  It displays beautifully!
