Up for sale is this absolutely STUNNING vintage Imperial Crown China porcelain hand-painted plate depicting an elaborate and finely-detailed scene of the death of King Lear, painted and signed by artist Walter PAGET.

Incredible accuracy and the finest of details throughout. The border has a gilt gold intricate design and a maroon / burgundy red ground.

Signed on the back and hand-signed by the artist and titled on the front of the plate.

We see guards in the back left looking on as the Prince holds onto his father in despair. The large sword, shield, helmet and armor hang to the right in the background.

A large animal fur lines the floor and the intricately carved bed has acanthus leaf and scroll detail.

What a wonderful hand-painted work of art. Some of the finest coming from Austria.

The plate had a scalloped floral rim and some raised white dots added to the border.

Plate is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or losses. It measures about 9.5” inches in diameter (24.1 cm).

Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
