Cast aluminium body.

sound-powered telephone is a communication device that allows users to talk to each other with the use of a handset, similar to a conventional telephone, but without the use of external power or batteries. . This technology has been used since at least 1940's, for both routine and emergency communication on ships to allow communication between key locations on a vessel if power is unavailable. A sound-powered phone circuit can have two or more stations on the same circuit. The circuit is always live, thus a user begins speaking rather than dialling another station. Sound-powered telephones are not normally connected to a telephone exchange.

Appears complete and potentially still in working order, but untested. I have multiple of these units available, so a number could be purchased to set up a working telephone system, once the wiring system has been worked out.

The bulb eliminates when the handle is wound.

44cm long, 28cm wide, 16cm deep approx, heavy !

Good used condition for age and application, with some wear, marks and tarnishing.

Lift the sprung hook at the top of the handset, to release the handset. Please note that the string is rather strong !
