Britannia Saxonica 1732
by Emanuel Bowen for History of England by Paul Rapin de Thoyras

Brilliant quality map with subsequent high-class hand-colouring.
This is the first English edition as it has a single fold showing that it was in the first, folio edition. Later editions were quarto in size and that needed more folds and some cutting of the margin.

Shows monasteries, castles, battle sites. The quality of hand-colouring is exemplary.

340x400mm including broad margins,
on laid paper with pronounced plate impression mark.
