This is a beautiful collectible VERY LARGE quilt. Quilting is obviously hand stitched. Actual age is unknown.
NOTE: This quilt came from a recent estate in southwestern Florida. I have had feedback from several eBay members who tell me this is not antique nor vintage and was likely produced in China - perhaps in the 1990's - which to me is still rather vintage... I appreciate the feedback - so I am adding this note and have reduced my asking price. Regardless of its origin, it is a beautiful quilt that will easily fit on a king size bed. I hope it will meet someone's needs.

It brings back memories of my grandmother quilting in her living room in the 50's (as I am sure she did for years before I was born - through the 1920's and 30's and 40's). She cut pieces of material (scraps, remnants from dressmaking, and feed sacks) to make the quilt top - sometimes patchwork and sometimes a beautiful pattern. These pieces were sewed together on an old pedal type sewing machine. Then she assembled the top and bottom with cotton quilt batting in the middle. Once assembled, it was rolled up on 2 long wooden poles and then placed on top of 2 sawhorses. She sat in the middle of the living room and "quilted" the pieces together by hand with needle, thread, and a thimble. As she completed quilting the exposed area she would roll up one side and unroll the other. I cannot remember how long it took her to finish a quilt - but it was a LOT of time and effort!
SIZE: Approximately 112 inches long x 100 inches wide. It is draped across a king size bed for photos.
CONDITION: It is in very good vintage condition. I checked and only saw one spot that I cleaned by hand. I did not wash, as I am not sure how something this old will hold up in the laundry. Please ask questions or request additional photos if you have any concerns.
