FORD WOODIE: The 1936 Ford has long been one of the most collectible of all pre-war models, and the
woodie station wagon of that year is certainly no exception. The massive presence of natural wood adds a dash
of charm to an already exciting design. The woodie wagon came on a 112-inch wheelbase with 16-inch tires
and weighed 3, 182 pounds. It included side curtains for the rear passenger windows and the back window,

BRUSH RUNABOUT: Founded in 1907 by Frank Briscoe, the Brush Runabout Co., of Detroit, Mich., and
its products were named after the car's designer, Alanson P. Brush, who also designed the first Oakland and
assisted in the development of the first Cadillac. This 191 0 Brush is a Model D runabout, which seated two,
featured dual chain drive, was powered by a 10-hp one-cylinder engine and sold for $485 ................... 18
MAXWELL: Through a series of mergers, the Everitt 30 introduced in 191 0 evolved into the Maxwell 35
seen here. T~ 2,750-pound roadster was the mid-priced model in the Maxwell line with a retail tag of $1,200,
minus electric starter and lights. Power was provided by a spunky four-cylinder engine rated at 35 hp. This example

STUDEBAKER: America's. oldest auto maker was ailing by 1955, and its illness would lead to death a decade
later. But its products in 1955 remained healthy in appearance and appointment. This '55 President State
Coupe was an especially attractive model at $2,270, although not quite as sporty as the top-of-the-line
Speedster, which listed for $1,000 more. The State Coupe came with only a single engine offering, a 175-hp
