Two little vintage perfume bottles from Devon, England - they are “motto ware” and are called Torquay pottery. Each little perfume bottle or pot is hand made and hand painted-one is Lavender with the motto English Lavender. This one is also marked on the bottom saying Genuine Devon Pottery, Made In England. The other is a painting of violets and says, Ye Olde Devon Violets and this one is marked Made In Devon England. These pieces were made from 1920’s through 1940’s. They were souvenirs. Each pot is squeezed by the potter as he paints and writes the motto and you will see the finger marks are different. See photos for a little roughness around the lip of each bottle-No chips or marks, just age related changes. Pots are 2 1/2” tall, top is 1” across, and the bottom is very slightly more than an inch across. These are so cute, and each one personally made by a potter long gone. Nice to honor things and people of the past by loving what they lovingly made.
