Absolutely gorgeous Catalina a California Creator vintage swim/playsuit in size VINTAGE 16/38- this does not translate as a US 16 as sizing has changed since the 40s/50s. the tag says the approx weight is 140/155. Please keep in mind this is a swim dress that is fully open (no bottoms included) and you will probably also need to wear swim bottoms underneath. and  I would say this suit would fit a Medium/ maybe a large as the material is stretchy- see measurements below. See all photos for condition- as this is vintage from the 40s-50s it is not going to be a perfect garment.

bust measurement is approximately 17" laid flat
waist is approximately 14" laid flat
length is approximately 31" from bottom hem to the top of adjustable (via 2 sets of buttons so there are only 2 lengths that can be adjusted to unlike adjustable straps nowadays) strap.

Catalina Sportswear was founded in 1928 when its founder, Edgar W. Stewart changed the name of a mill he owned, Pacific Knitting Mills. The company was located in Los Angeles, and they used their location near Hollywood as part of their glamorous image.

In the 1940s they hired several of Hollywood’s most famous designers to work on designs for them. These included Orry Kelly, Milo Anderson, Edith Head and Travis Banton. For many years the head designer at Catalina was Mary Ann DeWeese, who formed her own company, DeWeese Designs.

All information regarding Catalina is provided courtesy of vintage fashion guild. I also was able to roughly date this suit because of their label resources, below is the link for that if anyone is interested:

Fabric content unfortunately is unknown- but it is a stretchy material.
