Dukach ( Lechman, yagnus ) is a traditional detail of the Ukrainian female costume, a female decoration in the form of a medal-like coin with a silver bow decorated with pebbles. For dukachi used Russian rubles and local Ukrainian products with a variety of images.
Dukachi were worn on the left bank: in the Chernigov, Poltava provinces and in Slobozhanshchina. In Poltava dukachi had images of religious content on both sides, such dukachi were given at the wedding. Other dukachi could have portraits, most of them Empress Elizabeth and Catherine the Great. At the same time, the tradition of wearing a necklace of ducats and one medal-like douche did not exclude each other. In the XIX - early 20 century dukachom called very different on material and artistic value of women's jewelry - from rough, but diligently manufactured to the factory stamped plaque. Accordingly, in some localities of Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century the douche remained a festive decoration, and in others it was worn every day by adults and children.
