Wooden Bat Box Self Assembly DIY Kit
What better way to introduce bats to children (and adults!) than building your own bat boxes from a self-assembly kit.

This bat box kit provides you with pre-cut panels, the nails and screws required, together with simple to follow instructions. No sawing required - all you need is a hammer and screwdriver to enjoy building your own bat house.

Natural bat roosts are becoming more scarce as the landscape changes. A bat box can help bats by providing a roost in areas where other sites are lacking. This kit allows you to provide an ideal roost site for the most common bat in the UK, the Common Pipistrelle bat. Once constructed, each bat box kit will provide a long lasting dry, draught free (very important for bats) roost site.

Bat boxes can be mounted on both buildings and trees. Try to position your box as high as possible in a sheltered, sunny place. Ideally, several boxes should be put up facing in different directions to provide a range of conditions. Bats need time to find and explore new homes, and it may be several years before boxes have residents – be patient! Droppings on the landing area, and chittering noises from inside on warm afternoons and evenings are signs of occupation.
