NOTE: Please read all of the text in the description!

When The Coleman Company ceased production of the Model 500A Stove in 1961, they introduced the Model 501 Stove. The 501 had a very serious design flaw that they attempted to correct with the Model 501A but there was still a danger with it. So, back to the drawing board and Coleman began production of the Model 502 Stove. Coleman wasted little and the engineers did an amazing job of using the original fount design for the Model 501 and adaopting it to the radically different burner assembly of the Model 502.

The 502 in this auction is so early it is on one of the 501 founts having been made in August of 1962. The bottom of the fount is stamped "MODEL 501". After Coleman exhausted the supply of 501 founts, the only noticeable change in production is the pump tube was moved a few degrees so it was no longer under the fuel line and tip cleaner assembly, as is the case with this stove.

For being over 61 years old, it appears this stove has seen little use. It has been totally disassembled and all parts cleaned or replaced as needed. Upon reassembly, it received a new fuel cap gasket. The pump leather on the stove has been oiled. The stove pumps up and holds pressure. When the valve wheel is opened, air and fuel can be heard coming through the generator. It has been fueled and tested and it works excellent. A copy of the operating instructions will be included.

The Heat Drum is used. It does show tarnish and a little rust. The heat drum is used to convert the stove into a small heater. Boxes, although a bit beat up, for both items are included in the auction.

This stove has been around for 61 years and is now ready to cook, or warm, you again!
