Ukraina Stelo (Ukrainian: Україна Зоря) is the first Ukrainian periodical in Esperanto, founded in 1913. From 1913 to the 1930s, the chief editor was Orest Kuzma.
The history of the publication can be divided into three stages:
1913 - the end of June 1914; the break was caused by the First World War;
1922 — 1930, the break was caused by repression against Esperantoists in the USSR (Esperanto was declared "the language of the petty bourgeoisie and cosmopolitans")[1];
17 issues of the magazine have appeared since 1991.The pages of Ukraina Stelo published translations of the works of T. Shevchenko, I. Franko, in particular, his famous "Dedication" in honor of Kobzar (1914), O. Kobylyanska,
V. Stefanyk, Lesya Ukrainka, M. Kotsiubinsky, folk songs, kolomyika (their translated by V. Atamanyuk), articles about the creativity of Ukrainian writers. In the modern edition,
since 1991, translations by Ukrainian authors have appeared in the rubric "Ukrainian Anthology".
The first issue of Ukraina Stelo is kept in the Ternopil Museum of Local History, a gift from Mykhailo Yurkiv's daughter through the mediation of Ternopil Esperantoist Victor Payuk.
