The Calibarn was originally one of the prototype units created by the Vanadiis organization before the establishment of GUND Format technology, apart from the Gundam LFRITH and later competed against LFRITH in a competition.
While LFRITH was developed with the goal of establishing the integrity of GUND Format, Calibarn prioritized its machine performance in pursuit of the performance limits of GUND-ARM. As a result, the protection of the pilot's life itself took a backseat.
Such a design philosophy was already a concern even at a time when the direction of "GUND-ARM" itself had not been firmly established. Concerns about safety persist, but the practical difference in operability with LFRITH, which can operate with minimal stress, goes without saying.
Of course, The GUNDAM Calibarn lost in the competition, and subsequently, all records related to research and development were wiped clean, and the machine itself was securely sealed.
Furthermore, the main contender in the competition was undeniably LFRITH, and it cannot be ruled out that this machine was prepared as a decoy with the assumption of losing to Rubris. However, the truth remains unknown.
Nevertheless, in terms of danger, even though LFRITH is "better than Calibarn," it is still risky to one's life if one continues to pilot it. As a result, some fans have criticized both machines, saying things like "it's a toss-up" or "I would reject both."
