Antique F&R Pratt - Staffordshire, Pot Lid - Uncle Toby, Prattware, within a wooden frame.


Dated around 1860 - 1880

Good condition for age, with no chips or cracks. Some superficial wear and marks to the surround wooden frame.


These antique Prattware lids were on jars of anchovy paste, relish and bears grease and were collected by the Victorian's and Edwardian's as well as thrown out of course. 


A delightful Victorian Prattware earthenware pot lid, transfer printed with a picture entitled Uncle Toby. (A rendition of ‘Uncle Toby and The Widow Wadman’ by Charles R. Leslie, 1829, on display in the Tate Gallery. It was an illustration for an edition of Laurence Sterne’s book ‘The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman', first published in 1760.)
