Up for Sale is an Authentic 1874 G.M. Hopkins Colored Ward Map of Boston that was Salvaged from a Suffolk County Vol.1 Atlas. This particular double page map features Part of Ward 6 Plate Z in Great Detail as this Cartographer was known for in the second half of the 19th century. 26 1/2" x 17 1/2". Owners of residential & commercial properties are shown over the particular land that is owned. This Map shows an area of Boston that has been highly developed since the 19th century, The Fens Neighborhood. Anyone that knows this area, even remotely, will notice the massive change in the neighborhood since 1874 when this map was produced. Boston was well known for filling in the Charles River Basin Flats and Boston Harbor in order to create more buildable land. This Scarce Map features the Fens Area just before and during the filling in of the Wetlands. Photo 7 will show an Area of Land that will be the Future Home of the Boston Red Sox in 38 years, just below future Kenmore Square and shown RR Tracks. This land shows 3 different parcels, each with a different owner. The same photo will show the intersection of Brookline Ave and Beacon Street (soon Commonwealth Ave) which is the foundation of the future Kenmore Square.
