The Hamsa
- Its popularity and ubiquitous identity as a more uniquely Jewish vernacular religious practice took shape in the sixteenth century, when kabbalah emerged as a significant Jewish religious movement. While the origins of the practice seem shrouded in mystery, a study of the roots of the practice and its subsequent appropriation into Near Eastern religious life.
- One of the most ubiquitous religious motifs used in contemporary Jewish art and design is the hamsa, an amulet in the form of a five-finger, open, right hand-shaped charm, commonly with an all-seeing eye, that has been used as a sign of good fortune and luck in the Middle East, North Africa, and Mediterranean. Originating with the Phoenicians and Mesopotamians, the hamsa has emerged as a symbol associated with warding off the evil eye (ayin hara).

Passover Seder festival customs and traditions
There are so many traditions and customs past down for generations , from grandparents to children and grand children. Here we present you with a few of them.
Matzo, matzah, or matza is an unleavened flatbread that is part of Jewish cuisine and forms an integral element of the Passover festival, during which chametz is forbidden. As the Torah recounts, God commanded the Israelites to eat only unleavened bread during the seven day Passover festival.
The three matzot that are placed on the Seder plate are referred to as Kohen, Levi, and Yisrael as a means of distinguishing them from each other.
- The top matzah is referred to as Kohen, for the Kohen takes precedence in all matters.
- Middle matzah Levi is broken into 2 at the beginning of the Seder. The smaller piece is eaten along with the Kohen matzah in fulfillment of the mitzvah. the larger piece is put away for the Afikoman.
- The bottom matzah, Yisrael is used for korech, so that every one of the matzot is used for the performance of a mitzvah.
- The Afikomon is hidden away until the end of the meal.
- Afikoman Game: There is an old custom in order to keep the kids awake during the Seder to have them hunt for the Afikoman, and doesn't get retuned before they strike a deal to get their Afikoman gift.
