This is a fabulous Large Original Pastel and gouache on Board Landscape Painting by British Listed Artist:

Baragwanath King (1864-1939)

 The fascinating study depicts a large magnificent countryside setting with an ancient Castle as the focal point.

Sitting beneath a huge oak tree is a lone female figure who is seemingly admiring the extensive view and the small herd of cattle that are before her.

The work is both signed and dated (1924) by the artist, lower-left corner.

It is a wonderfully presented painting that is mounted within the original gilt moulded frame.

Artist Biography

Painter, born in Cornwall who first studied as an engineer before turning to art. Baragwanath King as he is known exhibited at the Baillie Gallery, MAFA, RI, in Paris, Venice, Germany, Argentina and elsewhere. Some of his work was purchased by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. He lived in St. Austell but also had a studio in Plymouth. He is known mainly for his work around the South Coast in Devon & Cornwall, but his works also include landscapes of the Lake District and Scotland. The Nationals Trust have his work in their collections.
