HUMANISM AND THE PHYSICIAN by Edmund D. Pellegrino; PUBLISHER: The University of Tennessee Press, Knoxville, TN; a 1979 printing; 248 pages.

SIGNED BY AUTHOR!

Humanism and the Physician raises crucial questions--questions fundamental to those now widely discussed under the heading of biomedical ethics. These are exploratory essays pointing to the need for a philosophy of medicine--some systematic formulations of the nature and functions of medicine in society out of which the professional obligations of the physician can be more formally derived.
