Description:
This rare medal is one of 50 in Franklin Mint's "OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES" Series.  The set was issued from 1976 to 1980 under the direction of the International Olympic Committee to commemorate the greatest moments in the modern Olympic games beginning in 1896.
  • The obverse features Al Oerter of the United States who won his fourth consecutive gold medal in the discus competition during the 1968 games.
  • The reverse features a laurel wreath with the Olympic Rings symbol and information on the featured athlete inscribed in Spanish.  ""Al Oerter gano el campeonato en disco por la cuarta vez consecutiva en 1968."
  • Only 5,382 silver copies of this medal were issued.
  • Weight: 20 grams
  • Diameter: 40 mm
  • Thickness: 3 mm
  • The original storage capsule is included.  The capsule has signs of handling.
