Description

This is a circulated but still somewhat crispy, "Five Yüan" note from the "Central Bank of China". These were issued beginning in 1941 during World War II. It was printed by “Thomas De La Rue, Limited, London”. De Le Rue printed paper money for China from 1930 until 1948.
 
“The Central Bank of China” was located in Nanking (now Nanjing), China. After the “Chinese Civil War”, the bank was relocated to Taiwan by the Nationalist government. The bank was renamed to the “Central Bank of the Republic of China” in 1949. In 1961, the bank was replaced by the “Bank of Taiwan” as the central bank of Taiwan
 
On July 7, 1937 the "Second Sino-Japanese War" began when Japan invaded China. China fought Japan from then until Japan was defeated and surrendered at the end of World War II.

Face: d/g 604859 • Lilac brown on multicolor underprint. • Sun Yat-sen, at left and in watermark. He was a physician, writer, philosopher and revolutionary. He became the first President and the founding father of the Republic of China. Born November 12, 1866, he became President in 1912, and died on March 12, 1925, from liver cancer.

The Note: A moderately used note, it has some minor edge roughness and some stains, and a single microscopic pinhole. It has been folded vertically but not horizontally and retains a good amount of crispness. The note will be sent in a new currency holder that protects it. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
