HISTORY
Lunch at the Ritz Earwear, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Alexis Watts and Esme Hecht in Lake Katrine, New York. Watts served as president of the company, and Hecht was a vice president and lead designer. Another designer, Zander Elliot, later partnered with Hecht creating jewelry for the Lunch at the Ritz brand.

Usually enameled with rhinestone accents and lots of dangling elements, earrings made by Lunch at the Ritz were, and are, whimsical and fun rather than being driven by fashion trends. The brand branched out over time to add brooches as well as necklaces and bracelets, some of which had interchangeable embellished toggle clasps.
Pieces from the 1980s often had one of several Lunch at the Ritz hand-etched marks. Later pieces were marked with signature plaques or had marks impressed into the metal.

In 2012 Hecht sold the business, which is now listed online as Lunch at the Ritz by Zander Elliot. Hecht currently operates a separate company called Ritzy Couture by Esme Hecht.
