The rarest Patrick Mahomes card of all. A very personal sketch card that Mahomes made himself back in 2013-24 and was a prize at the 2014 National. Mahomes printed his name and signed it on the back after scribing it on the front. A snapshot in time of what Mahomes was thinking at the time he placed his thoughts on the front of the card. After high school and before college Mahomes told MLB he had no intentions of joining any MLB team and his one true love was football. Mahomes was a standout pitcher and slugger in baseball and would have been drafted #1. Mahomes's father was trying to get his son to go baseball, but Patrick had other ideas. Knowing Mahomes was going the football direction the Detroit Tigers drafted him anyway and offered young Mahomes a huge multi-million-dollar MLB contract in hopes he would change his mind. On the front of the card, you will see what Mahomes was thinking at this pivotal time in his life. He wrote (One Love) as he turned down the Detroit Tigers contract, his future jersey #5, the college he was going to Texas Tech, and two, now very familiar Wreckem!, and Guns up!, you see on his future cards released in 2018 from the 2017 sets. This card is a one off, A One of One of the greatest QB that ever played, and this card is a full 4 years before you could get any more of this future Hall of Famers sports cards. Not only is this Mahomes first sports card by 4 years, but arguably his first ever auto. What would a 1996 Tom Brady 1/1 auto card sell for?
