Dana Bourgeois, world-renowned for his soloist models, is now offering a limited edition custom model, the Bourgeois D-150 Custom / Jacaranda! This instrument is SN:00051* and was made in 1996. The head is made of dark striped Jacaranda veneer with Waverly gold 4060G pegs, and the top is made of a very fine Adirondack spruce (red spruce) veneer with tight grain, which is almost impossible to find nowadays, the sides are quarter sawn, and the back is a wild and rare wooden board. Brazilian rosewood veneer, Honduran mahogany neck, diamond square position marks, jet-black ebony fingerboard and bridge, Avalon soundhole rosette, tortoiseshell pickguard and ivoroid binding with ivory pattern. The look is simple, but it is a gem among gems, made of carefully selected top-quality materials!
The sound is a non-scalloped X bracing with the thin and sharp bracing seen on Lowden and other models, which gives the instrument a pleasant resonance in the low range with a clear and firm midrange with a prominent contour and the depth characteristic of dreadnought and the rich, shimmering and lustrous high range characteristic of hakaranda. The overtone-rich treble range with the depth and richness characteristic of dreadnought and hakaranda is one word that describes it wonderfully. It has a powerful yet gentle sound, and can be used for any genre of music such as bluegrass and country, both fingerstyle and fingerstyle!
The condition of the guitar is very clean with no scratches or dents, and the left side of the guitar has a thin white streak. The left side of the guard has a light cloudiness, but due to the lighting, it is less noticeable than it appears in the picture. The right side is very clean. There is a slight cloudiness in the center of the back, but it is not bothersome and is only a minor abrasion, keeping the condition clean. The back of the neck is also in its original satin finish with no scratches or dents. There is a gold strap pin installed next to the heel of the neck, but there is no history of pickup installation or mounting. There are no cracks or other repairs or restorations on the wood.
Nut width is about 44mm, string length is about 648mm, and string height is about 2.3mm on the 6th string at 12F and about 1mm on the 1st string at low setting.
