Scarce collection of 1855/56 circa of 97 chromolythographies about Crimee War of different authors (Philippe Benoist) after drawing of Lebreton, de Moraine and two clothed maps of bid dimension: Nouvelle carte de la Crimee pour suivre les operations militaires des armees alliees di A. Vuillemin, Paris, Longuet Simonneau 1855 (cm 87,5x66) and Stanford's Bird's-eye view of the seat of war in the Crimea di A. Maclure - London, Edward Stanford (cm 63,5x57).
The plates represent views (Balaklava, Sebastopol, Odessa, Constantinople, Kronstadt, Christiansund, Varna), scenes of battle, boats and sea scenes (as Entrata di un vascello turco nel Mar Nero novembre 1853, disastro di Sinope ec.) historical scenes (Attacco del Forte di Hango in Finalndia, Bombardamento di Bomar Sund, Attacco della citta di Novitska, Eupatoria, Battaglia dell'Alma, Battaglia di Balaklava, Battaglia di Inkermann, Bombardamento di Sebastopoli, Uragano del 14 novembre 1854, Morte di Nicolas I, Presa di Mamelon, Attacco del Porto di Kilburn ec.).
The plates have a writing in the upper edge "Turc 1853, Affaires d'Orient, France 1854, Francais 1853, Anglais 1853, Mer Noire, Mer du nord, Sebastopol vue du nord.
The plates are all numbered excepting for one (La Tonnante). The following numbers 8, 18, 20-22, 24, 33, 37-41, 43-46, 48, 51-57, 59-77, 79-83, 85-87, 90, 91, 93-96, 99-109, 111-133, 137-141.
In fair conditions.
FLeather coeval cover with gilted title and decorations in the plates in poor conditions with wearings and lackings. Spine is detacehd. Binding in poor conditions with cracks. Inside pages are in good conditions with foxing and light Dump stains in the edges. In folio. 28x35,5 cm. Pp. (99). Peso Kg. 2,800
