Phenolic resin 200g
Synonyms: Phenol formaldehyde resins (PF), Bakelite, Novolac

Phenolic resin is highly soluble in alcohol, acetone, insoluble in hydrocarbons and mineral oils. They are resistant to water, acids, ammonia and weak alkali solutions. A strong alkali solution decomposes them.

Application
- in the production of plastic masses;
- binder and fuel in pyrotechnics, phenolic resins are powdery solids at room temperature and have been successfully evaluated as a substitute for natural resin fuels such as red gum and shellac.
- in the manufacture of varnishes, synthetic adhesives, bearings, brake linings, balls for billiards;
- from carbolite (hardened phenol-formaldehyde resin) the body of electric appliances was manufactured;
- this substance is also used as a connecting component for the production of filled press compositions with different fillers (wood flour, glass fiber, cellulose), wood chipboard and wood fiber boards, flood and impregnation compositions (for stuffed with fiber and fabric materials, for plywood), adhesives .

From phenol-formaldehyde polymer, adding various fillers, obtain phenol-formaldehyde plastics, i.e. phenoplasty Their application is very wide. These are: winches, gears and brake pads for cars; Good electro-insulating material in radio and electrical engineering. The production of large-size parts, telephone sets, electric contact boards. For bonding of foamed polystyrene boards used for making models in foundry production.

Phenol formaldehyde polymers are used as compressing compositions with various fillers, as well as in the manufacture of varnishes and glue.
