Tod des Apostel Thomas während seiner Missionstätigkeit in Indien, bei
Mailapur, einem Bezirk von Chennai (Madras).
Kupferstich von Hendrick Goltzius (1558-1617) (auch: Henrik, Henricus),
nach Maerten de Vos (1532-1603) [auch: Marten de Vos], Nr. 8 von 13, aus
der Folge 'Martyrium Christi und der zwölf Apostel' (H. 804-816, M. de Vos),
zuerst um 1577-82 bei Hieronymus Cock (Witwe), hier im 3. Zustand (von 3),
nach der Änderung des Textes (Christi per signa -> Christi litróque) u. mit
der Nr. 8 unten re., signiert 'HGoltzius' (ligiert), (bei Visscher), um 1643.
Die ursprünglich aus 12 Bll. bestehende Folge wurde um die
Kreuzigung Christi (1) erweitert.

vertikale Quetschfältchen (wellig) bindungsbedingt, sonst sehr schön.

St. Thomas Mount in Chennai (Madras)

revised (Christi per signa -> Christi litróque) and with the No. 8 at bottom right,
signed 'H Goltzius sculp' (interlaced), (pld. by Visscher), c. 1643.
