The Black and White Budget magazine was aimed mainly at a military other ranks audience providing reports on 3 three war zones during the years 1900 and 1901 when British troops were on active service in China, South Africa and Ghana.  The magazine had a large number of photographs and a wide mix of articles - at least half of them were from the war zones plus a regular comedy theatre item with photos of actors and in the Sport section a rugby football or soccer report from the North.

Photos of individual soldiers and military groups were a staple feature, as well as non-military news items for which up to £5 per photo was paid, a generous sum in those days.  Could well be some undiscovered treasures hiding in these pages.
