The Ogham
This is a spectacular set of handmade ogham staves. Each ogham stave is about 5-6 inches long and is made from the wood of the tree that it represents - so birch for birch, rowan on rowan etc. Creating sets from corresponding woods helps the reader to connect more easily with the energies of each trees and thus makes the reading more accurate. The staves were lightly sanded and a slip of bark removed from the top before being pyrographed (burnt) with the ogham symbol, making them much harder wearing than oghams that are just painted. The ogham is a celtic alphabet/divination system, based on 20 native British trees. It is used in much the same way as runes. The set will come in a handmade bag to store your staves in, and with an information sheet designed to get you started. Wood for most of the items comes from my family's fully-sustainable woodland, or from other people's prunings along with deadfall from my wanderings. I do not harvest wood for my work. I make every attempt to recycle and reuse packaging and posting materials, although sometimes this is not possible.
