Laffing Sal – unpainted cloned face only – lifted directly from an authentic Sal – front half only.

Many years ago (over 45 years ago), I shot a television special on amusement parks and roller coasters starring Vincent Price (a great actor best known for his horror films back in the 1950’s & 60’s).  Anyway, enough backstory.  I ended up with an actual, authentic NEW Laffing Sal from the factory before they closed up shop and sold off all of their inventory.  It was one of the last ones that they manufactured.  She is in fantastic shape…having never been out in the elements (rain, sleet, snow, etc).  She’s in my garage and I take her out for special occasions (Halloween, Conventions, etc.).  My Sal is not included in this auction, but I wanted you to know her backstory because I am offering a clone (an excellent copy) of her face.  “Why would you do this?” you ask...Because several people have asked if I would consider lifting a copy of her face and providing it to people who are creating their own Laffing Sals or have existing Sals that they are refurbishing.  The face is a perfect clone of the original:  the top of her head is rough, allowing for gluing a wig and hat. This auction is for: a direct, unpainted clone of the front half of her face (without wig or hat).  You will need to furnish her dress (size 5X or 6X), wig, hat and paint.  Oddly enough, when Philadelphia Toboggan Company, the inventor of Laffing Sal, sold to hundreds of amusement parks across the country, they always required that the Purchaser had to supply her hat…which I always thought was kind of odd.  (I was able to interview John Allen, President of the Philadelphia Toboggan Company at the time, for the film.)  The reason I don’t include the back of her head is because the clone is made to be used over an existing animatronic or model or mannequin or Styrofoam head. I found that using the face with the redressed body of a “Dancing Santa” (see video) allows you to use the animatronic movements for 2 seasons!  The face comes with 2 holes on either side for you to thread a strap or string through to secure the head over Santa.  Her wig covers the back side of the head.  Dancing Santa has great movements that can work for Sal (again, see video).  If you do want a clone of Sal’s face, please be patient.  Each one is individually prepared, mixed, poured and cured.  It takes about a week to 10 days to complete.  Again, you will need to supply a body to attach her to.

An additional afterthought:  Although my original Sal is not included is this auction, if anyone is interested, feel free to make me an offer.  My wife would love you for that.

Thanks for reading this novel.
