Martingale Collars can be used for most breeds of dogs.

What are Martingale Collars:

Martingale collars provide better control over your dog compared to regular flat collars. They are designed specifically for dogs that tend to slip out of their collars or have a tendency to pull excessively during walks. The martingale collar tightens slightly when tension is applied, preventing the dog from slipping out while still allowing them to move and breathe comfortably. This added control can enhance the safety of your walks and make it easier to manage your dog’s behaviour.

Traditional collars, especially those with buckles or clips, can pose a risk of injury if a dog pulls suddenly or lunges forward. Martingale collars distribute pressure evenly around the dog’s neck, rather than concentrating it in one area, reducing the risk of neck, throat, or tracheal injuries. This is particularly beneficial for dogs with delicate necks or breeds prone to respiratory issues.

The design of martingale collars helps prevent dogs from slipping out of them. The tightening action of the collar when tension is applied prevents the dog from backing out, making it an excellent choice for dogs with slender necks or those who have learned to escape from other collars. This added security can give pet owners peace of mind during outdoor activities or while training their dogs.

Size adjustability: Martingale collars typically have adjustable sizing options. This allows for a customized fit on your dog, ensuring that the collar is snug without being too loose or too tight. The ability to adjust the size of the collar makes it suitable for dogs of various sizes and breeds.

It's important to note that martingale collars are not meant to be left on unsupervised dogs or used as a substitute for regular identification tags or microchips. The collar could get caught on an object and hurt your pup.

In summary, martingale collars provide increased control, prevent injury, offer an escape-proof design, allow for gentle correction, and come in a variety of options. These benefits make them a popular choice for dog owners looking for a reliable, comfortable, and safe collar for their pets.

Widths:

- 2” (50mm)

- 1.5” (38mm)

- 1” (25mm)

Sizes:

My collars have about 6” adjustable length.  Average size for a Greyhound is aprox 16” (36cm) neck but I make all sizes for different dog breeds.

Be sure to measure your pup’s neck at the widest spot. Having that aprox 6” adjustment makes for better fitting.

My collars are made in Australia.  Fabric, webbing, ribbon and strong hardware are sourced in Australia. I like to support Aussie businesses.

Webbing is car seatbelt standard,  strong and durable. Cotton fabric and double-sided ribbon, all double stitched together for extra strength.

Taking care of your martingale collar is important to ensure its longevity, functionality, and safety for your pet. Here are some suggestions for how to properly care for your martingale collar:

1.       Regularly inspect the collar: Check the collar for any signs of wear and tear, such as fraying, loose stitching, or damaged hardware. If you notice any issues, it’s important to replace the collar to avoid potential safety hazards.

2.       Handwash or spot clean: Depending on the material, you can generally handwash your martingale collar using a mild detergent or spot clean it with a damp cloth. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for specific cleaning recommendations.

3.       Air dry: After cleaning, allow the collar to air dry completely before putting it back on your pet. Avoid using direct heat from a dryer or radiator, as this can damage the collar.

4.       Avoid submerging in water: While some martingale collars are water-resistant or made from waterproof materials, it’s generally best to avoid submerging them in water. Water can weaken the collar’s structure and cause damage, so it’s best to remove the collar before activities involving water.

5.       Adjust and fit properly: Ensure that the martingale collar is adjusted properly to fit your pet comfortably. It should be snug enough to prevent slipping off, but not so tight that it causes discomfort for your pet. Regularly check and adjust the collar’s fit as your pet grows or if their weight changes.

6.       Store properly: When not in use, store the martingale collar in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. This will help maintain its integrity and prevent unnecessary wear.
