Good Evening, I am listing a 5 x 7 Inch autographed photograph of U-Boat Captain Rolf Thomsen on the deck of his U-Boat, U-1202

This photo was In his private collection and not offered before.

While doing research on WWII, I became very Interested In U-Boat Captains. At an Ohio Valley Military Collector Show, I met U-Boat Veteran Ernst Schmidt, this was more that 20 years ago.

Ernst was a member of a U-Boat Veterans Association, and through him, I obtained address's of many U-Boat Captains and became very close to several of them, Rolf Thomsen was one of them. He let me copy photographs from his personal collection, I did this by taking the photographs to a professional photographic Laboratory who took a photograph of the original photo with a copy camera creating a negative and I had 5 x 7 Inch copies made from the negative. This makes my photographs larger than the German photographs.

I sent the photographs with a pen to Rolf along with a cash contribution for him to give to the U-Boat Archiv in Cuxhaven and extra copies of the photographs for him.

These photographs were autographed more than 20 years ago. For provenance I have scanned copies of correspondence that I received from Rolf. The correspondence Is NOT Included with the photograph.

Rolf was born May 6, 1915 and died March 27, 2003. He was a real gentleman, sharing photographs from his personal collection. He earned the Knight's Cross on January 4, 1945, Oak Leaves April 29, 1945. He was also a highly decorated naval aviator.

The autograph Is actual, real, hand signed on the photograph, It Is not a scan, copy or forgery of any type and will pass any test you want to put It through. It Is historically correct as autographed, putting what he did with his signature.
