The TOP BUFF, "sister"/counterpart to the BUFF (Survivor's famous colorful fabric wrap worn by every contestant competing in CBS's $1,000,000.00 reality show), first captured the attention of the national viewing audience when covering the attractive Survivor II/Australian Outback contestants Elisabeth and Amber.  Other than a slight difference in width (buffs measuring approximately 9-1/2" x 20" and buff tops measure approximately 11-3/4" x 20"), buff tops are identical to the standard buff, including the Reebok logo which is key to authentic buffs and top buffs from CBS's original production runs during Survivor's first four seasons.  Survivor's 2nd season was the first in which CBS test-marketed officially-licensed Survivor products for the show, with production numbers kept to a bare minimum.  Included among these products were the same buffs and top buffs worn by contestants.  CBS's stock of Survivor: Australian Outback buffs and top buffs quickly sold out, prompting the networks to dramatically increase production numbers for Survivor III/Africa.  Drab, earthly colors and a dip in viewership for Survivor III/Africa triggered by the 9-11 tragedy left the network stores with the huge surplus of unsold top buffs, prompting an immediate pull-back by CBS on Survivor 4/Marquesas buffs and top buffs production.  Collectors and fans find Survivor II/Australian Outback buffs and buff tops to be a challenge to locate especially in unworn condition.  The offered blue top buff is the same as worn by contestants Elisabeth, Alicia, Kimmi and Debb of the Kucha tribe for the first 6 episodes of Survivor Australian Outback.  The top buff displays both the official Survivor Australia logo along with the Reebok sponsorship logo featured on authentic buffs and top buffs produced for that season's production run (Reebok served as primary sponsor for Survivor during the first 4 seasons only).
