*Chinkin Pine needle Scattered Ground pattern Maple

The wooden Wajima lacquer natsume, painted in vermilion, is intricately crafted with numerous carved pine needles.

These pine needles are adorned with *Chinkin (using powdered real gold in etched grooves) application, and additionally, the leaves of autumn are molded into the design.

It results in a highly detailed and elaborate natsume.

This is by *Iwaji Kadono (角野岩次 1925- 2013).

He was a renowned Wajima lacquer artist with exceptional expertise in Chinkin-Damascening.

The curriculum vitae of Iwaji as of April 1984 is enclosed in the box along with the natsume, suggesting that the natsume is from around the time when Iwaji was approximately 59 years old.

Although approximately 39 years have passed since its creation, it appears to shine without any signs of fading..
