Kupferstich, anonym nach Maerten de Vos (1532-1603) [auch: Marten de Vos; Maarten],
Nr. 3 von 13, aus der Folge 'Martyrium Christi und der zwölf Apostel' (H. 804-816,
M. de Vos), zuerst um 1577-82 bei Hieronymus Cock (Witwe), hier im
3. Zustand (von 3), nach der Änderung des Textes, mit der Nr. 3
unten re., (bei Visscher), um 1643.
Die vormalige Zuschreibung an Hendrick Goltzius wurde verworfen, siehe
Leesberg, New Hollstein, Goltzius, Bd. 2, (2012), S. 355;
Die ursprünglich aus 12 Bll. bestehende Folge wurde um die
Kreuzigung Christi (1) erweitert.

Ein schwaches vertikales Quetschfältchen, druckbedingt. Außen re. ein kleines
Rostfleckchen.

in 3d. state (of 3), the text revised and with the No. 3 at bottom right,
(Visscher), c. 1643.
The former attribution to Hendrick Goltzius is rejected, cf. Leesberg,
New Hollstein, Goltzius, Vol. 2, (2012), p. 355.
First published with 12 sheets, later expanded with Crucifixion of Jesus (1).

Very good impression with plate tone on laid paper with watermark (goblet?)
and margins. A small paper flaw (printed paper blot) at the bottom (hem)
of Andrew's cloak. A faint vertical printer's crease; a tiny rustspot
at the far right, else nice.
