The Essential Legends Collection is a series of novels published by Del Rey. The series reprints select books from the Star Wars Legends continuity in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm Ltd. The first selection of books was published on June 15, 2021.
LEGENDS
These books are part of the original Star Wars Expanded Universe, and follow an internally consistent timeline. Newer movies and other stories aren't based on these books, and will often contradict them.
NEW CANON
The new standardized Star Wars "canon" includes all the movie episodes, The Clone Wars TV show, and almost all new stories since 2014. New stories, including the films, are coordinated to prevent contradictions between them.
