- This very beautiful antique Victorian travel writing desk is marked in two places with the London shop that sold it around the 1860's. The name of the shop is Fisher and was located at 188, Strand in London.

- Made from wood, felt, brass, and mother of pearl.
- The desk has a glass ink bottle, along with lidded compartments, and a felt writing surface.
- Size: 13 7/8" W x 10" D x 3 5/8" H
- Condition: Very good for its age. The writing desk has not been restored and maintains its original functionality. The original green felt on the bottom is intact. There is some minor wear to the mother of pearl inlay, (a few small bits are missing, some areas have cracked but overall is in beautiful form. More detailed pictures available upon request). The merlot colored felt writing surface shows signs of wear and the string tassel that lifts the base has broken off but is present in poor condition. The desk has been very well cared for and the wood is in near mint shape. There is a small crack in the interior basin potentially from the wood drying over the decades. Info about the shop where the desk was originally sold: Fisher’s was established in 1838 by Samuel Fisher and traded out of 188 Strand, London. They sold a wide range of items from traveling bags and trunks to billiard tables and stoves. Samuel died on the 9th of March 1890 and the business was passed on to his sons, Robert Edward and Charles Alfred
