Towards the end of this weekly's respectable 652 issue run, having ditched some of the more whimsical entries of its early days - and its frankly embarrassing titular mascot, thankfully - Sparky had formed up into a strong comedy contender, a companion paper to the more famous Beano and Dandy eventually merging into Topper.

Popular  features during this period included "Hungry Horace", "Pansy Potter", "Peter Piper", "Thingummyblob", and TV spoofs "L-Cars" and "Some Mummies Do 'Ave 'Em", among others.

Bear in mind that each weekly issue featured up to ten different comic strips, and they rotated frequently, so contents varied widely. The above are given as examples, with no guarantee they're in any given issue.
