i'm not sure what the connection between cigars and these little hammers is but it exists!  for some reason, back in the day before pocket knives, a man needed a special tool, a pry bar, a catspaw and a hammer to open his cigar boxes.  this was my grandfather's and i always knew him as a pipe smoker but apparently, before my time, he was also a cigarette fiend and a cigar addict.  i spent about 15 minutes with some #0000 steel wool on this little guy.  i would recommend a stronger grade for about another 30..
i poached this from another seller auctioning the same thing:

extremely rare Emanelo Cigar Engelswerk Antique Wood Handle Cigar Box Knife Opener Hammer, made in Solingen, Germany by a renowned razor maker.  likely early 1900s to late 1800s. oozing with patina!  in the shape of a tack hammer, wooden handle is in very nice shape, metal ends show wear.  stamped “Emanelo Cigar” on one side, “Emanelo” on the other, base knife is stamped “Engelswerk Solingen Germany”.  measures 6 3/8 inches long, 2 1/8 inches wide at hammer head, handle 1/2 inches wide.

holler with any questions,
