This is an exceptionally pretty and rare large basket of flowers with a blue bow tied at the top of the handle. The flowers are a mixed bouquet featuring roses, forget-me-nots, a tulip and a daisy. In pretty pastel colors, this English doorstop retains most of its original paint. The basket shows not only the details in the weave but also the edge of the bottom and top that resemble a rope.

The basket was placed on a plinth to give it more of a presence. It has a pleasing waisted shape with a tall handle. The jaunty blue bow at the top shows a nice center knot as well as both ends of the ribbon. There is an impressed foundry mark on the inside, number 121. A piece of old felt is on the bottom to protect one’s floors.

This is a rare and wonderful example. I have owned this piece for over 40 years.

It is in excellent condition for its age and type, especially considering that the paint is the original. Any paint loss is mainly on the edges of the flower petals and on the edges of the bow. There is minimal paint loss on the basket and just some paint loss along the bottom of the plinth.

It measures 11 inches high and 8-7/8 inches at its widest. The base is 5-½ inches wide and 2-¼ inches deep.

Personal and cashier’s checks also accepted.  Please contact for international shipping rates, as well as to Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. territories.
